Used by singers, music educators, and vocal pedagogues, created by Manuel García.
History of the Laryngoscope
After abandoning his previous career as a baritone singer, he invented the laryngoscope to record his findings between his own larynx and vocal cords. He was interested in the connection between the muscle movements and the singing voice itself, unaware of its importance in medicine as well.
History of the Inventor
Manuel García was born in Madrid, Spain to a father who was a singer and teacher. After abandoning his previous dream of becoming a baritone singer, he became a music teacher and taught at the Paris Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Music in London. It was then that the laryngoscope was invented, based on some curious observations he had made.
The Effects
Doctors have found García's invention to be a medical success. Thanks to the laryngoscope, medics can now have a look down a patient's throat to check and fix respiratory diseases.
